Aqueous Binder for Li-Ion Battery Cathode LA133
High-performance Aqueous Binder LA133 designed for lithium-ion battery cathode electrode fabrication. This water-based binder delivers excellent adhesion, mechanical strength, and eco-friendly processing — ideal for advanced cathode slurries in research, prototype, and production applications.
Product Code: MT-MAT-2025
Product Overview
Matlabs Technologies’ Aqueous Binder LA133 is a high-quality water-based binder formulated for use in cathode electrode slurries of lithium-ion batteries. Unlike traditional solvent-based binders, aqueous binders are safer, environmentally friendly, and eliminate the need for hazardous organic solvents such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP).
LA133 provides strong mechanical adhesion between active cathode particles, conductive additives, and current collectors — resulting in uniform coatings, improved electrode integrity, and reproducible electrochemical performance.
This binder is especially effective with high-capacity cathode materials such as Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC), Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP), and similar formulations where electrochemical stability and green processing are important.
Features & Benefits
• Eco-Friendly Water-Based System – Eliminates hazardous solvent use and reduces processing risk.
• Strong Adhesion & Mechanical Strength – Promotes electrode durability and lifetime.
• Optimized Rheology for Slurry Coating – Smooth dispersion and even coating on foil substrates.
• Simplifies Drying & Processing – Reduces drying time and energy consumption in manufacturing.
Typical Applications
- Lithium-Ion Battery Cathode Formulations – Ideal for LFP, NMC, and other cathode materials.
- Battery R&D & Pilot Line Production – Supports research labs and prototype builds.
- Green Manufacturing Processes – Water-based electrode fabrication systems.
- High-Performance Energy Storage Systems – Batteries requiring stable cycling and good mechanical stability.
Usage & Handling
Aqueous binders like LA133 are typically mixed with active cathode powders and conductive additives (e.g., carbon black) in de-ionized water to form a homogeneous slurry. This slurry is then coated onto aluminum foil current collectors and dried to form cathode films ready for cell assembly.
Storage: Keep the liquid binder in a cool, dry place, tightly sealed. Shake or agitate before use to ensure uniform dispersion.
