Premium Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) Binder — TRD104A designed as a high-performance aqueous binder for lithium-ion battery electrodes. This water-dispersible binder offers excellent adhesion, flexibility, and mechanical strength — ideal for anode slurry formulations and advanced electrode applications in research, prototype, and production settings.
Product Code: MT-MAT-2025
Product Overview
Matlabs Technologies’ SBR Binder (TRD104A) is a high-quality water-soluble polymer binder formulated for use in lithium-ion battery anode slurries. This water-based binder eliminates the need for hazardous organic solvents such as NMP, enabling safer, eco-friendly manufacturing and simplified processing.
The TRD104A grade delivers strong adhesion between the active material, conductive carbon, and current collector (usually copper foil) — improving mechanical stability, minimizing particle detachment, and accommodating slight volume changes during repeated charge/discharge cycles.
When combined with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), this binder system enhances slurry rheology, improves coating quality, and supports better cycling performance in battery cells.
Features & Benefits
• Water-Based & Eco-Friendly System – Avoids the use of toxic solvents and reduces environmental impact.
• Strong Adhesion & Mechanical Flexibility – Enhances electrode integrity and cycle reliability.
• Optimized Rheology – Supports uniform slurry dispersion and consistent coating thickness.
• Improved Electrode Durability – Works well with CMC to balance mechanical and electrochemical performance.
• Easy to Handle – Water-dispersible emulsion facilitates processing and mixing.
Typical Applications
- Lithium-Ion Battery Anode Slurries – Binder for water-based anode formulations.
- Silicon/Graphite Composite Electrodes – Suitable for advanced anode material systems.
- Battery R&D & Prototype Cells – Ideal for research labs and developmental production.
- Eco-Conscious Electrode Manufacturing – Supports water-based production lines.
Usage & Handling
SBR TRD104A is typically mixed with de-ionized water and combined with active anode powders and conductive carbon black to form a uniform professional slurry. For improved mechanical performance, SBR is frequently used in combination with Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) to achieve optimal viscosity and adhesion during the coating process.
Storage: Store sealed at 0 – 38 °C. Avoid freezing and direct exposure to sunlight to preserve binder quality.
