Overview
The Platinum–Platinum Rotating Ring-Disk Electrode (Pt–Pt RRDE) from Matlabs is engineered for advanced electrochemical investigations that demand high catalytic activity, superior durability, and precise control of coupled redox reactions. Featuring both platinum disk and platinum ring, this RRDE configuration enables researchers to simultaneously evaluate reaction kinetics and intermediate product formation under well-defined hydrodynamic conditions.
Principle of Operation
In RRDE experiments, the rotating disk electrode initiates an electrochemical process while the surrounding ring collects or quantifies intermediates transported through the diffusion layer. The Pt–Pt configuration ensures excellent electrical conductivity and catalytic uniformity, ideal for oxygen reduction (ORR), hydrogen evolution (HER), chlorine evolution, and fuel cell catalyst studies. Its robust structure allows operation in acidic, alkaline, and neutral electrolytes.
